(DORA) – Dora and Corner continued their rivalry Friday night in a Class 4A, Region 5 showdown with the Yellow Jackets claiming a 24-14 win in the County Line Clash.
Both teams entered the game undefeated in the region. Corner improves to 4-0 on the year and 3-0 in region with the win, while Dora drops to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in region with the defeat.
Corner built a 21-0 lead by early in the third quarter. The Yellow Jackets held off a late Dora run to earn the win.
Corner scored with 43 seconds left in the first quarter when Gavin Brown scored on a 1-yard run. Johannes Rolland added the extra point to make the score 7-0.
The Yellow Jackets extended their lead just before halftime as Brown scored on a 2-yard run. Rolland added the point after. Corner led 14-0 at halftime.
Corner’s Jace Boyd picked off a Dora pass and returned it for a score on the first possession of the second half, extending the lead to 21-0.
Jamarcus Goodmon scored on a 16-yard run on Dora’s next possession. Riley Willingham added the extra point. Corner led 21-7.
Sean Pryor scored on a 3-yard run midway through the fourth quarter to cut the Yellow Jackets’ lead to 21-14.
Rolland hit a 30-yard field goal with just over a minute left in the game to put the Bulldogs away 24-14.
Brown led Corner with 60 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Pryor led Dora with 194 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries, while also throwing for 134 yards.
Dora has a bye next week with its next game being another rival and region opponent at Cordova on Sept. 30.
